Hotel Die Traumerei

Die Träumerei is German for "The Dreamery", an apt name for the whimsically nostalgic hotel conceived by German film actress Jessica Schwarz and her sister Sandra. Located in the pastoral German town of Michelstadt in the Odenwald, the delightful bed and breakfast is housed in a landmarked timbered house originally built in 1623 and admired by the Schwarz sisters all throughout their childhood in the quaint Hessian village. Consisting of just three double rooms, one suite and a cosy café, Die Träumerei is full of rustic charm and friendly service. Each spacious, individually-designed room comes equipped with flat screen satellite television, wireless Internet and panel or floor heating, and each is dominated by a specific design theme: Hollyhock, Ivory, Jade or Gold.

The sisters made sure that a ground-up ecological renovation preserved the building’s original dark wood beams and fairy tale atmosphere, while at the same time providing a chic contemporary feel via modern design touches. Accordingly, quirky treasures have been scattered throughout the house, such as movie row seats and hidden requisites from Jessica’s films. Michelstadt, too, is full of its own little treasures for guests to discover, including picturesque timber-frame houses, dozens of historical sites and Germany’s oldest town hall.
Guests can also explore the beautiful surrounding Odenwald countryside, perfect for hiking, biking or casual strolls. A nearby golf course, tree climbing park and wellness spa are also easily accessible, and Frankfurt, Heidelberg and Mannheim are each only about an hour away.
