Elite Plaza Hotel

The Elite Plaza Hotel's history continues to incorporate new traditions. Once housing the Svea Fire & Life Insurance company in the late 1880's, the building was developed by top architects of the era. Recent renovations reflect this classicism, showcased when the hotel re-opened in January 2000. The remarkable entrance made of fine-cut, partially polished granite and the English mosaic floor have been restored to their original beauty. Pillared halls with arches of Italian marble stucco and wrought-iron details reflect the New Renaissance style.

A newly converted top floor features 12 rooms and suites in a response to demand for even larger accommodations. With prime views over medieval Gothenburg, the floor’s design and colour scheme contrast with the rest of the hotels’ discretion: here, beige, cherry and lime are the colours of a penthouse modernist lifestyle. The cosy hotel bar is a natural meeting place for guests and locals alike, for trading secrets or secrets of the trade. For special presentations, its well-stocked wine cellar is a perfect site for private wine tastings or events. Proximity to the city centre, high-tech amenities, world-class comfort and a relaxed atmosphere have put the Elite Plaza firmly on Gothenburg’s map.
