U-Tapao is the home of a large Thai Airways maintenance facility, servicing that airline's aircraft as well as those of other customers.


U-Tapao Airport was established in 1965 in the period of Vietnam War in accordance with the Thailand and the United Stated of America cooperation in 1962 for the purpose of protecting Southeast Asia region from Communism which propagate from Vietnam and Lao. At that time U-Tapao international airport was utilized for military purposes in delivering troops and armory by air transportation. Therefore, a lot of infrastructures were produced to the airport by the United States of America in the meantime of dwelling and fighting. After a long fighting, it appears that the subsequent situation was changed when the United States was defeated and the War was consequently ended. As a result, there is not necessary for U-Tapao airport serving the alliances and The United States for the military purposes anymore.

Apart from supporting aviation business to passengers, U-Tapao International Airport is considered as the gateway to eastern part of Thailand such as Chonburi, Chanthaburi or Trad Province etc which are plentiful of tourist attractions. Nowadays more and more passengers both Thais and foreigners are coming to use our service and there are 2 airlines are now available,Bangkok Airways and Thai Airways.
