Gloucestershire Airport

In 1931, Gloucestershire Airport began life as Down Hatherley airfield, on a site adjacent to its present location. The Westgate Motor Company of Gloucester set up a dealership for de Havilland Moth aircraft and demonstrated them from this site. In the same year, The Cotswold Aero Club was formed at Down Hatherley and still operates to this day.

Gloucestershire Airport, lying in the heart of the Cotswolds directly between Cheltenham and Gloucester is just 3 minutes from the M5/A40 junction. Serving a catchment area of 1.5m people and 3500 businesses from the Midlands to north Bristol, it is one of the smartest General Aviation airports in the country.
Commercially, the Airport caters for both business and leisure, with Scheduled Services to the Isle of Man, Belfast City and Jersey, operated by Manx2.com, using an environmentally friendly, 19-seater turboprop.
The Airport is home to around 160 based aircraft, ranging from single-seat, homebuilt ultralights to multimillion dollar, state-of-the art Executive Jets. Over 85 000 flights are handled each year, making Gloucestershire Airport one of the busiest in the UK.
In recent years, major capital investment by Gloucestershire Airport Limited and numerous private tenants has resulted in a modern Terminal and Business Aviation Centre, a new fire station and much new hangarage and office accommodation. The whole appearance of the Airport has been improved by further investment in car-parking, new signage and landscaping.
Flight training has always played a big part in the Airport’s operation too, with every aspect of flying training from recreational fun to full Commercial Pilot training being available on site. There are a full range of support services on offer at the Airport, ranging from aircraft maintenance and avionics to the refurbishment of aircraft interiors. A Pilot Shop and newly refurbished café complete the portfolio of around 40 companies on the site, making Gloucestershire Airport the perfect port of call.
