Ryanair has inexpensive flights to several European countries. Wingo operates route Turku-Tampere-Pirkkala-Oulu. In 2007, approximately 688,000 passengers used the Tampere-Pirkkala Airport.

The Pirkkala CLX Business Zone to be established near the airport is intended as the location of new companies and thousands of new jobs during the next few years.
