Ekaterinburg Koltsovo Airport is the most dynamically developing airport in Russia. Ekaterinburg International Airport is undergoing a large-scale reconstruction under a development and re-equipment plan. To date, the construction of the third terminal has been started; it is designed to handle international passengers, while the first two terminals will cater for domestic flights.

If they add up the construction of the hotel-and-business centre and the "A" class logistic intermodal centre, the total investment of the RENOVA Group in Koltsovo’s reconstruction will, by the year 2009, exceed eight billion rubles.
Beside facilities for passengers and customers, work is underway to overhaul aircraft stands, taxiways and runways, with the funds coming from the Federal budget. Before 2010, both runways will have been strengthened and extended 500 metres each; they will have new lighting, meteorological and navigational equipment. Then Ekaterinburg Koltsovo Airport will measure up to ICAO Category II and will be able to handle virtually all aircraft types, even in adverse weather conditions. The total sum of the Federal investment in the airfield reconstruction will amount to 5.6 billion rubles.

The reconstruction of Koltsovo Airport has entered the final stage: in two years’ time, the ultra-modern and streamlined hub will be one of the main sites of the Urals, and the experience gained will be evidence of successful, well-planned and efficient cooperation between the authorities and the business community.
