As a key factor in the economic development of the region, the airports in Apulia compete, each in their own area of expertise, in the process of the economic growth and social development of Apulia. The airports in Bari and Brindisi are dedicated to the growing number of passengers - which featured an increase of 18,3% compared to 2006.
Bari’s "Karol Wojtila" International Airport is one of the most comfort-oriented, technologically-advanced infrastructures, equipped with machinery powered by more than forty types of electrical, mechanical and fluid-technical plants, which are monitored and checked by the sophisticated Building Automation system, along with an intricate video surveillance system and a modern remote control room.
The success achieved with the new Bari Airport is shown by the high degree of satisfaction expressed in passengers’ interviews, and the stunning traffic increase featuring more than 3,000,000 passengers who travelled through Bari’s Airport in 2007.
The strategy of upgrading the airport infrastructures in Apulia, implemented by AEROPORTI DI PUGLIA was recently extended to the Brindisi Airport, which was extended and renewed to the highest quality standards and hub capacity, as well as to the airports of Foggia and Grottaglie. These works allowed to upgrade the routes available, giving Apulia a strategic position in the role of a reference region for the Mediterranean area in terms of domestic and international air traffic.
AEROPORTI DI PUGLIA, S.p.A., is a stock capital company. Stock capital is almost entirely owned by the Apulian Regional Administration. Seap manages under a 40-year license the entire Apulian airport system, namely the airports of Bari, Brindisi, Foggia and Taranto-Grottaglie.
SEAP’s goal is to achieve and maintain a modern and efficient airport management, with high level standards, wholly integrated with its pertaining territory and able to facilitate a seamless economic and social growth process.
Under such regulations Seap implements planning strategies of its activities and infrastructural projects, i.e. the Apulian Airports Master Plan and the Territorial Wide Area Plans for the airports of Bari and Brindisi.
The International Airport of Bari, the airport of Brindisi Salento, the platform logistics of Taranto and the renewed Grottaglie airport Gino Lisa of Foggia, are a tangible sign of the new trend of Apulia airport system.
