Activity of Ural Airlines on the Russian transport market started in December 1993, after the official separating of Sverdlovsk Air Company into an airline and an airport. The main types of activity are: passenger and cargo air carriages, sale and booking of air tickets, aircraft repair and maintenance.
Currently, Ural Airlines is among 10 Russian leading airlines with regard to security level and volume of carriages. From the beginning and up to now the company is headed by the first-class pilot, the honoured worker of the RF transport, Expert Air Transport, Director General Serguei Nikolaevitch Skuratov.
The Airlines owns various aircraft types, including IL-86, TU-154М, TU-154B, АN-24. In 2006 the Airline started the aircraft fleet reequipment program. Currently, Ural Airlines successfully operates 6 modern liners Airbus А320 on the Russian and international itineraries. By the year 2010 the Airline's fleet is planned to be enlarged by 10 foreign aircraft of this type. However, this development project of aircraft fleet includes not only the introduction of foreign facilities, but also maintenance in the proper condition and reconstruction of home-produced aircraft. Within the years 2002-2003 two new TU-154M aircraft being fully in compliance with the requirements of the European Union with regard to noise level and technical specifications were purchased. As a whole, during 10 years of operation 4 new aircraft have been acquired. In April 2007 the Airline elongated for all the aircraft being in operation the Type Certificates, which are issued by the Russian aviation authorities and prove that these aircraft comply with all the aviation standards for this aircraft type.
On 4 October 2007 in Ekaterinburg in presence of the governor of the Sverdlovsk Oblast a ceremonial signing of the International Agreement between Ural Airlines and Airbus Concern was held with regard to purchasing 7 new Airbus aircraft by the Russian party. Delivery period according to the Agreement is scheduled for 2012 - beginning of 2013.
