In 1993, Ronald Corrado fulfilled his dream of starting his own aviation business while also juggling a successful career as a cobra pilot and maintenance test officer for the United States Army. Although he loved serving his country, Ron was excited to begin a new chapter in his life that would promise plenty of both hard work and success. "Skyword" Aviation, as it was initially spelled, started out primarily as a helicopter business, offering rides, flight instruction, and aerial advertising. Not long after, Ron obtained a 421 Cessna and began building a charter fleet.

With a growing fleet and business, Ron saw the need to hire more help, his own wife, Susan, with a background in banking, as well as travel and tourism, started out as the office manager, receptionist, charter sales coordinator, and accounting department all in one. Skyward Aviation’s initial growth came with the demand for King Airs, air ambulance, and air shuttle services, but the company eventually found its niche in private jet charter. Since its founding, Skyward Aviation still remains a family owned and operated company with the addition of Ron and Sue’s daughter, Brianna, joining the charter department.
