Cyprus Airways was established on 24 September 1947 as a joint venture between the colonial Government of Cyprus, BEA (British European Airways) and private interests.
Cyprus Airways serves a network covering over 30 destinations in Europe and in the Middle East & the Gulf areas. Its main operational base is Larnaca International Airport, due to the closure of Nicosia International Airport following the 1974 Turkish invasion. It also has a hub at Paphos International Airport.
