Austrian Airlines was founded on 30 September 1957, making its maiden flight on 31 March 1958 when a Vickers Viscount 779 took off from Vienna for London, England via Zurich. Austrian Airlines was formed through the merger of Air Austria and Austrian Airways. It launched domestic services on 1 May 1963.

Their Vision: SUCCEED

For their proactive market strategy they are the leading carrier in Central and Eastern Europe and the Middle East. As a key contributor to Austria's attractiveness as a business location they secure their position with dedicated, highly motivated staff who bring a smile to the faces of their guests by delivering a superlative product.

Their mission: They care.

"They care" is the credo that guides their actions. In concrete terms, it stands for:

"They care" means attending to the needs of their guests willingly and with pleasure. Austrian Airlines use their natural charm to provide their guests with a refreshing, harmonious travel experience. They surprise and enthuse their guests with that little bit extra attentiveness and warmth every time they travel with them. So every Austrian flight is like taking a mini-break in Austria.

In fulfilling their mission they rely on our most important asset – their staff; their enthusiasm, their commitment, their empathy, their team spirit and their common will to succeed. Their strength lies in taking care of their guests with genuine courtesy and typical Austrian charm – and taking pleasure in doing so.
