Air Namibia (Pty) Limited - the national airline of Namibia has been flying passengers under its current and previous name "Namib Air" for over 50 years.
In 1946, founding of Air Namibia, initially as South West Air Transport, then South West Airways.
In 1966, "Namib Air" of Walvis Bay becomes a subsidiary of "Suidwes Lugdiens".
In 1990, following Namibias Independence Namib Air is renamend Air Namibia.
A twice weekly schedule between Frankfurt and Windhoek is launched, initially a Boeing B747SP is used.

Air Namibia offers daily flight connection to Europe by offering two flights a week to London Gatwick and five flights a week to Frankfurt. Our flights to and from Europe have good and convenient connections to Johannesburg & Cape Town (South Africa).
Air Namibia operates scheduled flights on Domestic, Regional and Intercontinental routes.
Airbuses A340-300, operate long haul intercontinental flights between Windhoek and Frankfurt and London Gatwick. Boeing 737-500s, are used on regional flights between Windhoek and Johannesburg & Cape Town, (South Africa), and Luanda (Angola).
Beechcrafts 1900s, pressurized 19 seater aircrafts, used between Windhoek International airport and Maun, (Botswana) and Victoria Falls, (Zimbabwe) as well as on daily domestic flights operated from Windhoek’s Eros Airport to Ondangwa, Katima Mulilo, Walvis Bay, Luderitz, and Oranjemund. All aircrafts are piloted by experienced professionals and serviced by highly skilled factory-trained engineers.
Air Namibia won the 2000 Iwanowski Onboard Award for Excellence in Service and Quality and for three years, 2004, 2005 and 2007, Air Namibia won the "Feather Awards" at Johannesburg Airport, as the best Regional Airline of Southern Africa.
