In 2008 they added a new destination to theirr schedule: The SOS Children’s Villages. Their main goal was to help set up the building to house the SOS-ELIZA guesthouse, a center for abused or neglected children of ages up to five years-old. They managed to achieve that purpose with your help.
For 2009 they’ve set a new goal: To build a new home at the SOS Thrace Children’s Village.
The Thrace Children’s Village is located at Aristino in Alexandroupoli, and marks a shift in focus for the organization towards local communities facing stark social problems. The new SOS village features:
- SOS family homes, ready to welcome up to forty children.
- A support center for children and families, offering free psychological support, speech language therapy and creative activities to 50 local children.
- A day care center for children with special needs, able to welcome 30 children daily.
